Safer Journeys, from Every Angle

At Myle, passenger, driver and road safety are central to every journey. That’s why we’re rolling out in-vehicle CCTV and dashcam technology across selected Myle-owned vehicles.

The systems use inward- and outward-facing cameras to provide an additional record of journeys and road incidents when needed. Depending on the vehicle and system, recording may operate continuously or be incident-triggered.

Why are we introducing cameras?

The technology is designed to support:

  • Passenger and driver safety
  • Safeguarding, including journeys involving children and vulnerable passengers
  • Road safety
  • The investigation of collisions or other incidents
  • The appropriate handling of complaints and concerns
  • Insurance, legal and regulatory requirements
  • The protection of passengers, drivers, members of the public and Myle property

Recordings can help provide a clearer and more accurate account when an incident, safety concern or complaint needs to be investigated.

What could be recorded?

Depending on the system fitted, cameras may capture video inside the vehicle and video of the road and surrounding area outside the vehicle.

Audio may also be recorded. Systems may record continuously or be activated by an incident trigger, depending on the vehicle and its configuration.

The technology is being introduced progressively across selected Myle-owned vehicles, so not every vehicle will be equipped.

How will passengers know?

Camera-equipped vehicles will display clear signage. An external notice will alert passengers that recording equipment is in use, while information inside the vehicle will explain how to contact Myle or find out more.

How is recording information handled?

Myle Connect Ltd is responsible for the personal information captured by these systems.

Access to recordings is restricted to authorised people and service providers who need it for a legitimate purpose. Recordings are not used for marketing or sold to third parties.

Our standard retention period is 365 days. Relevant recordings may be retained for longer where they are required for an ongoing incident, complaint, insurance claim, safeguarding concern, investigation or legal obligation.

We have completed a Data Protection Impact Assessment covering the use of this technology and the measures needed to protect passengers, drivers and other people who may be recorded.
